Como Hotels & Resorts to Open Miami Beach Location in December 2013

COMO Hotels and Resorts will open its first US property, Metropolitan by COMO, Miami Beach, in December.

Singapore-based COMO Hotels and Resorts, owns, among other properties, two other Metropolitan hotels in London and Bangkok as well as the the private island resort of Parrot Cay by COMO in the Turks & Caicos.

The new 74-room Metropolitan by COMO will occupy an original 1930s building in the heart of the city’s Art Deco District, with direct access to the beach and a private swimming pool.

Located on Collins Avenue and 24th Street, the property has views that stretch across the Atlantic to the east or the Intracoastal Waterway to the west, flooding rooms with light.

Interiors are by the Italian designer Paola Navone, who preserved the hotel’s Art Deco heritage and contrasted it with an urbane, contemporary spirit in shades of peppermint green and dusky grey, with surfaces of cool white marble and shining chrome.

The hotel will feature two restaurants. The Traymore, the headline restaurant, will showcase Floridian seafood, with an emphasis on fine dining and traditional service; the poolside restaurant will be more relaxed, with wood-baked pizzas and easygoing pick-up food to enjoy during the day.

The Met Bar will offer premium spirits and Champagnes, while the rooftop COMO Shambhala juice bar will be a space to revitalize with a bespoke juice blend after a workout, beachfront run, or massage.

The COMO Shambhala Urban Escape will feature four treatment rooms and a rooftop hydrotherapy pool. A daily schedule of complimentary yoga and Pilates will also be available to guests, reflecting the company’s commitment to wellness.

COMO hotels focus on wellness, cuisine, adventure, culture, service and design, while trying to uphold a strong, sustainable approach towards the people and places where they operate.

  • Raffles Hainan to Open in September 2013

Raffles Hainan to Open in September 2013

Raffles Hotels & Resorts will arrive at a new milestone in September 2013, as it expands its collection to 10 hotels with the opening of Raffles Hainan.

The luxury resort, Raffles’ second property in China, will open in Clearwater Bay, the new hotspot on the southeast coast of Hainan Island – China’s answer to the French Riviera and a rising star in the luxury tourism market.

Clearwater Bay encompasses the Raffles resort, two championship golf courses designed by US-based Schmidt-Curley Design, private residences, luxury retail, a cinema complex, yacht clubs and a 780-berth marina for sailing and water sports. With nearly 7 1/2 miles of beautiful coastline, Clearwater Bay is regarded as one of only three “singing beaches” in the world.

    Raffles Hainan

The 299-room Raffles Hainan, situated on prime beachfront location, includes 32 villas, all with private balconies and scenic views of the ocean or golf course.

A large Raffles Spa offering both Asian and Western treatments, seven restaurants and bars, and private events spaces will sit alongside Hainan’s homage to the Long Bar at Raffles Singapore, in tribute to the Hainanese bartender who created the Singapore Sling.

Rooms and suites feature a contemporary design combined with locally inspired accents. Artisan wood furnishings, colorful fabrics and artworks pay homage to the traditional hill tribes in Hainan, and bring a sense of place to the interiors.

Raffles Hainan will showcase more than 1,000 works of art throughout the resort. Curated by Willow Gallery from Hong Kong, pieces include specially commissioned works from contemporary Chinese artists, sculptures, tribal ornaments and even multimedia art.

With the addition of Raffles’ signature warm and graceful service embodied by the Raffles Butlers, we are setting a new luxury benchmark on [Hainan] island,” said Herbert Laubichler-Pichler, General Manager.

Raffles Hainan is Raffles Hotels & Resorts’ second property in China, following the historic Raffles Beijing. The tropical Hainan Island is 3 hours flight from Beijing, and ideal as complement to Beijing’s cultural experience.
